If you're missing movies, we're teamed up with the Lester Centre this fall to bring a series of independent (and awesome) films to the community. These are films selected from the Toronto International Film Festival, who offer a catalogue to communities across Canada. We'll have three more coming up for October, November and December, with more details on those soon - so keep an eye out! Tickets are $13 for members and $15 for non-members.

Intro to Collage Portraiture with Resident Artist Erica H. Isomura

Explore ways of approaching portraiture through mixed-media collage. Participants will learn how to create mixed-media collage portraits as an homage to friends, family, pets, or community members. Participants are invited to bring 2-5 photos (printed copies) to the workshop and any other materials they would like to incorporate into their projects, such as ticket stubs, handwritten notes or letters, buttons or beads, ribbons, or other ephemera. No prior experience is necessary.

Open to anyone to participate. $10 supplies fee to participate. Please contact artsprincerupert@gmail.com to register in advance for numbers! Maximum 20 spots.

Erica H Isomura (she/they) is an artist, writer, and educator whose work is rooted in community. Erica's artistic practice combines book arts, paper arts, writing, drawing, printmaking, eco-arts, and mixed-media collage with land-based and critical diasporic knowledge. Erica has taught mixed-media collage, book/paper art, and creative writing workshops in communities across Canada. She enjoys working with learners of all backgrounds, ages, and abilities. Erica is honoured to be the 2026 artist-in-residence at the North Pacific Cannery in Port Edward, B.C. Erica was raised on the southwest coast of B.C. beside the Stó:lō and now lives beside Lake Ontario in Toronto, ON.
