Explore ways of approaching portraiture through mixed-media collage. Participants will learn how to create mixed-media collage portraits as an homage to friends, family, pets, or community members. Participants are invited to bring 2-5 photos (printed copies) to the workshop and any other materials they would like to incorporate into their projects, such as ticket stubs, handwritten notes or letters, buttons or beads, ribbons, or other ephemera. No prior experience is necessary.

Erica H Isomura (she/they) is an artist, writer, and educator whose work is rooted in community. Erica's artistic practice combines book arts, paper arts, writing, drawing, printmaking, eco-arts, and mixed-media collage with land-based and critical diasporic knowledge. Erica has taught mixed-media collage, book/paper art, and creative writing workshops in communities across Canada. She enjoys working with learners of all backgrounds, ages, and abilities. Erica is honoured to be the 2026 artist-in-residence at the North Pacific Cannery in Port Edward, B.C. Erica was raised on the southwest coast of B.C. beside the Stó:lō and now lives beside Lake Ontario in Toronto, ON.
